Duarte Cordeiro
Minister for the Environment and Climate Action

Duarte Cordeiro was born in 1979 in Lisbon.

 

He holds a degree in Economics from Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão and a postgraduate degree in Business Management from ISCTE, Instituto Universitário de Lisboa.

 

He was vice-president of the Lisbon City Council, from April 2015 to February 2019, with responsibility for Urban Hygiene, Public Space, Economy and Innovation, Smart Cities and Sport, having served as councilor in the Lisbon City Council since October 2013.

 

He was a deputy to the Assembly of the Republic in the XI and XII Legislatures, from October 2009 to October 2013, integrating the Economy and Finance Commission and the Working Group for the elaboration of a Basic Law on Quality, Innovation, Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship.

 

He served as vice-president of the Instituto Português da Juventude and chairman of the board of directors of the Information Technology Dissemination Foundation, in 2008.

 

He was general secretary of the Socialist Youth between 2008 and 2010 and is president of the Socialist Party's Federation of the Urban Area of ​​Lisbon.

 

He was Deputy Secretary of State for the Prime Minister and for Parliamentary Affairs in the XXI Constitutional Government and Secretary of State for Parliamentary Affairs in the XXII Constitutional Government.
