José Basílio Simões is an entrepreneur and business angel with more than 30 years of professional experience. He is president and co-founder of Cleanwatts, a world-leading Portuguese technology company and national pioneer in Renewable Energy Communities. He founded several technological companies, including ISA (Intelligent Sensing Anywhere), a pioneer in telemetry for the Oil & Gas sector, which was the first Portuguese company admitted to the SME Stock Exchange, NYSE Alternext Lisbon, in 2012.

In his business angel activity, he has coordinated the "Centro Business Angels Club" since 2010 and invests in technological startups, especially in the energy sector, notably VPS – Virtual Power Solutions and Energia Simples. He has held management positions in several business associations and regularly collaborates as a mentor or jury on entrepreneurship projects with national and international institutions.

He has a degree in Physical Engineering and a PhD in Technological Physics from the University of Coimbra where he was a professor for 20 years in the areas of Physics, Electronics and Instrumentation, having directed several research projects, registered patents and published dozens of scientific articles in international journals. He is a Guest Professor of Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation.
