Pedro Miranda
CEO at Siemens Portugal

Pedro Pires de Miranda is the Executive President of Siemens Portugal and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Siemens Angola and Siemens Mozambique. He was previously Corporate Vice President of Siemens AG at the Headquarters of Munich from 2008 to 2016.

 

He began his career at General Motors Corporation in 1981 as a Production Engineer, and specializes in GM's Automotive Components Factory in Dayton, Ohio.

 

In 1983 he joined Siemens where he held several management positions at Siemens S.A. in Portugal and Siemens AG in Germany. In 1998 appointed Director General of Engineering and in 2007 member of the Executive Committee of Siemens S.A.

 

In 2008, he was promoted to Corporate Vice President of Siemens AG in Munich, Germany, responsible for the worldwide development of the business in 70 cities (in the areas of urban transport, building and energy infrastructures) and the worldwide coordination of the Market Development Boards and of the management program of large corporate client accounts.

 

In 2011, he was named a member of the Siemens AG Sales Board in Munich and in 2012 as Executive Vice President of the Siemens Global Cities Competence Center in London and responsible for the regional Competence Centers in Washington, DC and Shanghai.

 

Degree in Electrotechnical Engineering and Industrial Management from Purdue University, West Lafayette, USA. He was an AFS Fellow in New York and attended the Executive Management programs at Harvard Business School and the New University of Lisbon, Engineering Management at Krannert Business School, USA and Industrial Engineering at REFA Institut in Darmstadt, Germany.

 

He is a member of the IEEE - Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in the USA and Germany, and was a guest speaker at the London School of Economics, Harvard Business School and West Point Military Academy.

 

In 2014 he was decorated by the President of the Portuguese Republic with the Order of Industry Business Merit at the rank of Grand Officer and has been a founding member of the Diaspora Council since 2012.
