Graduated in Economics from the Instituto Superior de Economia, João Manso Neto holds a postgraduate degree in European Economics from the Portuguese Catholic University, and the academic component of the Master's degree in Economics at universidade Nova de Lisboa, having also completed the Advanced Management Program for Overseas Bankers at the Wharton School in the United States.

Since March 2021 he is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Greenvolt – Renewable Energies. Between 2006 and 2021 he was a member of the Executive Board of EDP, during which time he played vice-President of the Board of Directors and CEO of EDP Renováveis, Member of the Board of Directors of the Iberian Energy Market Operator Polo Español (OMEL), Member of the Board of Directors of the Iberian Market – OMIP (Portugal) and member of the Board of Directors of MIBGAS.

Between 2003 and 2006, he was also the General Director of EDP, Energias de Portugal, Director of EDP Gestão de Produção de Energia, S.A., CEO of Hidrocantábrico and Administrator of Naturgás Energia Group.

His experience also extends to the banking and financial sector, having, between 1991 and 2003, held various functions in this sector.

He was responsible for the International Credit Division at Banco Portuguese do Atlântico, Managing Director with the responsibility of the financial and retail portfolio of the Southern region at Banco Portuguese do Atlântico, General Director of Treasury, bcp, administrator of BCP Banco de Investimento, Vice President of Big Bank Gdansk in Poland, administrator of the BPN Group, among other functions.

He was also a professor at Nova SBE, Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
