Since December 2017, Miguel Patena has been a non-executive member of the board of directors of EDA - Eletricidade dos Açores.

With 32 years of professional experience, he has coordinated several engineering teams in projects for thermal power plants, coal gasification, biomass, cogeneration, hydroelectric plants, renewable dispatches, corporate process information systems, from the EDP portfolio.

For seven years now, he has been coordinating several innovation projects in the area of ​​clean technologies and decarbonization, in particular floating photovoltaic power plants, hybridization of hydro plants, flexibility of water assets and storage applications with large-scale batteries for isolated electrical systems and power plants hybrids.

He is 56 years old, born in Lisbon, has an MEng in Power Systems from Instituto Superior Técnico de Lisboa, 1988, a Business Management Directives Program (2000) from AESE (IESE) and a postgraduate degree in Sustainable Energy Markets from European Energy Institute (2006/7).
