Nuno Lacasta has been working on environmental and sustainable development issues for nearly twenty years, in Europe and the USA.

Since 2002 he has been performing public service functions, being since February 2012 President of the Board of Directors of the APA.

Between 2006 and 2012 he was Coordinator of the Executive Committee of the Commission for Climate Change and manager of the Portuguese Carbon Fund.

Between 2004 and 2007 he was Director of the Ministry of Environment's International Relations Office.

Nuno Lacasta was also a visiting professor of Environmental Law and Policy at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a visiting professor of Community Law on the Environment and Climate Change at the Washington College of Law, American University, Washington, DC.

Between 1998 and 2001 he was a guest assistant in International Environmental Policy at the University of Aveiro.

Between 1998 and 2002, he also carried out consultancy activities for the OECD, UN and European Commission.
