Vincent Thouvenin, member of the Executive Committee of RTE, has been in charge of European Affairs for the French public electricity transmission system operator since 2017.
A senior civil servant on secondment, he began his career in the civil service, holding various positions, in particular: national expert on secondment to the European Commission's DG Competition, then various responsabilities at the head of electricity and gas departments of the French Ministry of Energy at the time of the transposition into national law of the first EUropean directives liberalising these sectors, and finally technical adviser to the Minister responsible for employment at the beginning of the 2000s.
After participating for several years in the creatioin of an economic analysis consultancy, Vincent Thouvenin joined RTE in 2006. He has held various management positions within the company: first as head of staff of RTE's Executive Chairman, then as Deputy Director of the Normandy-Paris power system, and then as Director of the department in charge of financial forecasts and tariff regulations of the public electricity transmission network, before becoming Head of the European Affairs Department. In particular, he is RTE's substitute representative on the General Assembly of Entso-e, the European association of electricity transmission system operators.
