Born in Lisbon on 18 March 1962.

Completed a PhD in economics at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve in 2003.

Worked in the Research Department of Banco de Portugal from 1985 to 1990.

Has been working in the European Commission since 1990, in the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) between 1990-2004 and 2010-2015, and in the Directorate-General for Employment and Social Affairs (DG EMPL) between 2004 and 2010.

Since 2015, has been working as an “economic attaché” in the Representation of the European Commission in Portugal, which is part of the Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM).
