Electrical Engineer graduated in Energy and Power System (1977) and Master degree in Electrical Power System – 1988, both got in Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon.

From January 2015 until the beggining of 2020 he was the General Secretary of the Renewable Portuguese Association - APREN, aiming to promote the Renewable Energy mainly in the Electricity Sector, participating in different Portuguese and European projects. Currently he is Senior Advisor at this Association.

Previously, José Medeiros Pinto, worked at the Portuguese Electric Transmission System Operation, where he got experience in network studies, system planning and renewable integration. 

He has been the responsible (2005-2011) for the Portuguese Electricity Network Planning and he participated also, as the Portuguese representative, in the elaboration of two of the European South West Network Development Plan, 2010-2020 and 2012-2022. 

Finally, it worth noting his experience (2012 and 2013) in the Mediterranean Association of the Transmission System Operators as Coordinator of the Supervisory Team in charge for the preparation of the “Master Plan of the Mediterranean Basin Electrical Interconnections 2013-2022” and also participating in the project “Paving the Way for the Mediterranean Solar Plan”.
