REN21 publishes Renewables 2018 Global Status Report

APREN - Portuguese Renewable Energy Association and REN21 announce that the transformation of the electricity sector is accelerating, but that urgent actions are needed in the heating, cooling and transportation sectors.
According to the Report published today by REN21, of the total installed power worldwide in 2017, 70% (178 GW) corresponded to renewables, which is the largest annual power increase in renewable power plants in modern history.
However, in the sectors of heating and cooling and transport - which together account for four-fifths of total energy demand globally - the transition to renewable and sustainable sources remains far short of the progress of the electricity sector.
